Eszter Radnóczy, who celebrates the fifteenth birthday of este’r partners with her team, gave an interview at Minute Lounge & Bar, the newest cocktail bar on Andrássy Avenue. Este’r partners has become known for interior design work on projects in the Hungarian architectural and creative sector, such as the Emerald Residence on Szervita Square, Agroverzum in Martonvásár, the Zwack Visitors’ Center, Good Spirit Whiskey Bar, Hotel Moments Budapest, the Feller Adrienne Store, the Bar Garden Bistro, the Italian restaurant La Fabbrica as well as the interior designs of many clients’ private homes and villas, and the two high-quality Andrássy Avenue hotels, the A3 and the A52.

“I started building my company out of passion and it hasn’t changed since then. What’s different is that now I’m working with an international team of twenty-five people, which gives me creative space and provides a solid background.” says Eszter Radnóczy who recently opened an office in Milan with her Italian partner, Waves Project Ltd., lead by Stefano Napolitani, a recognized professional in the Italian real estate industry. The architectural and interior design concept of their first joint international project, the so-called “riverfront villa”, will debut this spring.
“Esther’s approach to economics, her awareness, transparency, traceability and strict budget control are the key pillars that make a company stable,” says Réka Harkay-Farkas, financial manager of este’r partners. “In the fifteen-year history of the company, it has always been our priority to be reliable partners alongside creative ideas and uniqueness – this is essential in working with our clients, who are happy to choose us over and over again.”
The year of 2019 was a great success for este’r partners: the interior design plans for Andrássy Avenue 3 and 52 were introduced to the public, and there was also great interest in the interior design concept of Emerald Residence, a luxury investment in Budapest. At the end of the year, the Minute Bar & Lounge opened, where besides the challenges of the different functions (breakfast bar, bistro, cocktail bar), Eszter and her team were able to create an international atmosphere with the creative use of blue, green and gold colors and with the special lighting and coverings; the project was also noticed by the English-language press. The opening of the office in Milan was rather a return to home, as Eszter Radnóczy, a graduate of the University of Milan, has an Italian network of relationships, which in most cases, besides professional values, is characterized by personal trust.

“Obviously, working on grandiose hotel developments is a prestige and a challenge, and we are delighted that our work has shaped the spaces of many hotels and restaurants in Budapest. However, the design of private residences, homes and villas is just as important and we do not want to neglect this area, in fact, we consciously put these kinds of projects in our portfolio,” says the manager of este’r partners.
Eszter also revealed that she would soon show her international knowledge and solid commercial background of fifteen years of experience in a construction not yet seen on the Hungarian market. And the slogans can be familiar for the clients: partnership, combination of high quality and wonderful atmosphere, and of course the indispensable Italian espresso and prosecco.

In July we visited Solar Decathlon 2019 in Szentendre, an exhibition on sustainable architecture in practice. This was a lovely opportunity to chat to Solongo Bayar, our colleague with Mongolian roots, on similarities and differences between the ways we see the same topic, also, to share her unique knowledge on architecture and design.
Solongo, how do you see sustainability and eco-consciousness in your home, Mongolia?
Mongolia is home to one of the world’s last surviving nomadic cultures, and these nomads still live in traditional ways of housing – ghers. However, Mongolians are increasingly abandoning the traditional nomadic way of life and moving into urban areas.. Consequently, Mongolia faces a number of serious environmental problems including severe air pollution in Ulaanbaatar, mismanagement of water supplies and water pollution, land degradation and desertification. It is important that Mongolia takes the necessary steps to solving these environmental issues as part of its economic development.
The Mongolian climate consists of long cold winters, short summers and low annual precipitation. Temperatures can fall to -40°C in winter and reach 40°C in summer. Recent increases in urban migration are partly due to poor weather conditions. However many of these migrants cannot afford to live in apartments or houses, and remain in “semi-nomadic” conditions and live in traditional “gers” (ger = yurt. The traditional housing in Mongolia) on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. These dwellings are not connected to utilities such as water and heating, and many residents use pit latrines.
Now I am studing Master of architecture. Studying here made me realize that actions must be made to increase the importance of environmental values in both countries of Mongolia and Hungary and environmental knowledge must be strengthening. More comprehensive environmental education programs and PR campaigns are required to increase the knowledge base of customers. The more people know about the most important environmental issues, the more probable that their behaviour will be more environmentally conscious. Events like Solar Decathlon are essential in rising eco-awareness through an international competition that challenges university teams to design and build houses powered exclusively by the renewable energy sources and promotes of architectural solutions related to solar energy, renewable energies and innovative technologies.
Which was the most interesting solution you saw at Solar Decathlon?
Solar Decathlon was a new experience for me. I am very happy that I got a chance to see this worldwide sustainable buildings in this competition. It was really inspiring me to see each houses have their own different ideas and innovative solutions. I have found the most interesting was the house that proved that the building can be constructed by using eco-friendly materials from natural and recycled materials and also can be recycled.
There was so many ideas and solutions that most buildings can use in their future projects. For me, I have noticed that although all houses have their own unique system and design, all of it have the same idea of simplicity and nature friendly designed interiors using eco materials. So in my future projects I would like to develop works by using more natural materials and more greenery design by applying more plants and trees. I would definitely go after PCM Green wall system that allowing people to enjoy nature and also functions as an air precooling.
As it has already been announced, este’r partners opens its first partner office in Milan in close partnership with Italian architecture agency Waves Project Ltd lead by Stefano Napolitani. Connected to the professional circle of Italian interior design, Eszter and her team already feel at home in this new area. We asked Eszter and Stefano in a short interview to answer a few questions on working together.
Eszter, Stefano – when was the idea of a common office born?
E: For a long time I have been looking for a joint, reliable and transparent cooperation with a business partner in Milan. For me, it is important that partners are on the same page.
S: Yes! As soon as I met Eszter, we found many interest in common and a similar way of life.

Stefano, would you tell us what kind of studio Waves Project is?
We are a team expert in the real estate business. Our company search good opportunity for investiment and follow the client from the first beginning (Architecture Concept and Business Plan) to the end.
What are the principles that connect you professionally?
E: We both love our profession, just like me, Stefano is always available. Even with the biggest workload, we end the day with a smile because we love what we do. We don’t overdo things, we’re trying to find pragmatically but creatively the right solution.
S: Give the best to our clients and love to research new ideas.
What does this mean in practice?
E: We contact on a daily basis, on the phone or via emails and if it’s necessary we have the flexibility to meet personally. We are working on joint projects and it was great to see that our Hungarian clients also think that they can profit from this cooperation.
S: In our world, we do not have any language or others barriers both teams works and helps each other in the easiest way. We have projects in Italy and at the same time in the Cayman Islands, and also in Hungary.
Are you planning a common project or it’s going to be a good neighborly relation?
E: It’s by no means a good neighborly relationship, but a strategy to build a strong base in both countries that will be able to meet any international challenge.
S: Yes we have few projects also in Budapest, where we are responsible for architecture and Eszter and her team for interior design. We are perfectly complementary.

Milan is the center of design. Where is your offices within this, locally and mentally?
E: It is located in the quiet, elegant neighborhood of Milan in a very typical, ancient building in via via Telesio 18.
S: Milan is not a big town and you” breath” design, fashion, food, everywhere. Our Studio is in a old street, in an old building, because what we like to insert in our project is possible and we love the historical background feeling.
Eszter and her team are really active in terms of traveling, seeing the world and being open to discovering new things while maintaining a stable taste and value system. Stefano, how is it at your studio?
We have been traveling for business and pleasure to many places, where things are really different and at these places it is always easy to learn something new.
In Hungary, the most important decisions are born in the kitchen – what about the Italians?
E: Stefano will surely agree with me if I say that a private client will certainly dream up a plan at the table. While we are working hard on our projects, decisions are mostly made on the blueprint and on the screen.
In Italy it is usually not in the kitchen, but rather the dinner room – but it is true.
Eszter likes her coffee strong, without sugar and with skim milk. What about you, Stefano?
It depends who is makes that coffee. Usually black but sometimes i am horrible and I have to add a spoon of sugar…
The team of este’r partners visited Milan last week. This will be the city where, besides Budapest, Eszter Radnóczy opens her first partner office. As Eszter said, there wasn’t an actual question of how the successful Hungarian company would develop, in many ways, they are already connected to the professional circle of Italian interior design, especially to Milan.

Este’r partners is a real Italian-Hungarian company, not only because of the number of espressos they drank, but also because most of their colleagues have an Italian experience in their studies or in their professional career – for example, Eszter Radnóczy was a student at the Corvinus University in Budapest but also studied at IDI Interior Design Institute and at MBF Bocconi University in Milan. In their portfolio, besides several Italian projects, you can also tell that in their professional decisions, they are undoubtedly choosing the solutions provided by the Italian market and their close relationship with Italy has a big impact on their style. As part of their professional commitment they regularly visit Italy’s design week, markets and shows during the company’s business trips.
Eszter and her colleagues say that there’s one thing that motivates every link to Italy: the personal and professional relationships always inspiring them to return again. Este’r partners established a secure and extensive network of contacts in Italy over the years, which has now led their way towards the opening of an Italian office.

In our first photo you can see Eszter Radnóczy and our Italian partner Stefano Napolitani, the leader of the Waves-Project. New perspectives open up!
